It’s an action packed few days at the Palais de Tokyo, Paris.

(Climax Golden Twins arrive in Paris…at the Gare Montparnasse, Paris, on October 23, 1895)

Things sound much better in French, so I won’t bother to translate, but suffice to say: Climax Golden Twins, film screenings for Dust to Digital and Sublime Frequencies, 78rpm DJs (except those damn things are heavy).

Jeudi 29 et vendredi 30 octobre 2009 - Palais de Tokyo
20.00, 6 €

Jeudi 29 octobre 2009 : DESPERATE MAN BLUES (film) / Performance / 78RPM
20.00 - 20.15
20.15 - 21.15
* Projection du film DESPERATE MAN BLUES,
discovering the roots of American music (55min) 2004 - Edward Gillan/ Dust to Digital
« Desperate Man Blues » retrace l’histoire de Joseph E. Bussard, collectionneur emblématique de 78 tours. http://dust-digital.com/dmb.htm
21. 30 – 22.00
* performance Rob Millis : guitare / voix
22.00 – 22.30
* dj set 78 rpm

Vendredi 30 octobre 2009 PHI TA KHON (film) / CLIMAX GOLDEN TWINS (performance) / 78RPM

21.30 – 22.00
* Climax Golden Twins - folk/blues/murder ballads/hillbilly music

Sublime Frequencies films, director in attendance (so you can blame him). Tell your friends. So they can blame you.

INDIA AT 78rpm
Folk and classical music in India through the lens of the largest private collection of 78rpm records and dusty ephemera on the sub-continent. Everything is connected…

MY FRIEND RAIN
Decay and rebirth and death through the endless Asian monsoon cycle. A collage of musical segments and tropical ambiance from Robert Millis and Alan Bishop. Well, mostly Robert Millis. As I said, you can blame him. Includes the Thai Blind Willie Johnson, complete with metal cup on the end of his three string pin. Magical. View a clip here.

PHI TA KHON: GHOSTS OF ISAN
A traditional Buddhist ghost festival from Thailand’s Isan province that features beautiful handmade masks, outrageous wooden phalluses, ceremony, ritual, dancing, and endless
music. View a clip here.

Featuring unusual and obscure 78rpm records from the dawn of time and around the world presented by
ROBERT MILLIS (Climax Golden Twins/Dust to Digital/Sublime Frequencies)
